INFORMATION SHEET OCTOBER 2001

From the Tug Workshop:

You will see a large notice board on the side wall of the Blister Hangar above the Robin tow bar. This is a list of the tugs and the order that I would like them flown, in order to schedule the maintenance of the tugs

Thank you, Dave Sarney

From the CFI:

It’s the end of another busy season for the training operation and a reasonable cross country season bearing in mind the problems caused by foot and mouth disease. Now as the winter looms up please don’t just stop flying. Stay current, or you will have forgotten how to do it by the time the sun comes out again!

My thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the Nationals this year; you did a good job and I was pleased to hear many positive comments from the competitors.

Next year we are holding the Regionals in the last week of August, starting on Saturday 24th through to Sunday 31st. I am hoping for a good turnout. We may also run a "Masters" competition alongside- watch this space. I will be on leave again this winter, going out to Omarama, NZ to instruct for their summer season, and returning for the start of our season at the beginning of March. Whilst there I can be contacted by club members at glide247@hotmail.com. Before any rumours start, I will be back!

In my absence Jed will be acting as CFI and Matt Cook will be running the airfield when Jed is on his weekend. Please give them both your support.

We are preparing a programme of Winter Lectures, mostly for the pilots who have yet to attain a Bronze C but there should be something for the more experienced. Again, watch this space.

Instructors:

Thanks for you efforts over the season. We have all been busy, especially the BI’s. Well done.

All the basic instructors will need check flights before renewing their ratings. Please get organised to fly with me, Jed, Tim Scott or Graham Saw.

Assistant and full rated instructors are mostly able to renew without a check this year- I will contact those of you that need to fly with me.

All instructors must fill in a renewal form and return it as soon as possible!

If you don’t get your renewal form in on time your rating will lapse and you will have to fly with a regional examiner of BI coach. That may or may not be me, and therefore it may not be at Booker. This is really inconvenient so I say again: All instructors must fill in a renewal form and return it as soon as possible!

Sorry to labour the point but every year I have complaints from instructors who have lost their ratings because they didn’t bother to renew them. NB All instructor training and checking is at reduced rates.
