INFORMATION SHEET

FEBRUARY 2004

From the Committee

Enclosed with this information sheet you will find a summary of the financial accounts for the last financial year, together with a proxy form which was omitted from the last mailing and a copy of the minutes of the last AGM for your information.

If you wish to see a full version of the accounts there are copies in the clubhouse and if you have any questions about the accounts please contact Jack Luxton who will be very happy to discuss them with you.  Jack's mobile number is 07971 141930.

From the CFI

2004 kicks off to a wet start with the first two thirds of the month delivering very little.  However the month was not without its successes.  A huge well done to Graham Saw on winning the highly competitive "points" trophy for aerobatics.  This is a national award presented to the pilot accumulating the most number of points in aerobatic competition.  Also, with the weather picking up for a brief time during the middle of the month, over 20 members had a very productive and enjoyable time winching at Bicester.  Around sixty launches were done over a two day period with members enjoying on average 3 launches each.  A big thank you to the team for running the weekend.  Well done Andy and Tom!

Jaca

Several members have expressed an interest in visiting Jaca for a period during April .  There is a chance that if sufficient support can be found, the duo discus and 314 will be taken to Jaca, with G Dale acting as mentor.

Anybody interested in going, please give your name, number and email address to the office, along with a £150 deposit.  This must be paid by the 1st March.

Shobdon

The Shobdon expedition is getting closer - we already have 14 names commited to going with several more likely. APRIL 17th - 24th. Book soon to avoid disappointment. Contact the office today. (Click Here to see last years expedition)

Booker Regionals

This will be taking place from the 12th-20th June.  With the entry being FREE it makes this the biggest bargain of the comps calendar!  To register speak to the office.

Help!

I need a team to help run the regionals.  I have all the major jobs covered, yet still need help for finish/start line and general help around the club during the competition.  This period is a great time to be around the club, it buzzes!  Any help offered would be appreciated.  Please let me or the office know if you are available.

Duo Discus

The Duo will once again be flying during the competition allowing people who are interested in competition and cross country flying the opportunity to see how it is done.  Interested individuals please notify the office, with your preference on the day you would like to fly.  In the event of over subscription a ballot will be drawn.

Dinner Dance

With tickets selling like hot cakes I'm pleased to confirm our speaker.  John Farley was the Harrier test pilot and is known more recently for his aviation columns.  People who are still wishing to come to the dinner please speak to the office asap as final numbers are now due, and I'm not sure what the maximum numbers are!

Trophies

Several trophies are up for grabs!  To qualify for these all flights must be pre-declared and have evidence.  These are The Jim Couch, Challenge 300 and Challenge 500 Cups (see list attached).  All trophies will be awarded at the club dinner dance in February.

www.bookergliding.co.uk

Did you know what a great website we have.  Looking at it recently myself, I found it very interesting and informative.  Please remember you have a forum under the guise of a letters page for all subjects you would like to talk about/ask questions about.  Also available is the instructor rota; and some very funny articles to read.  If you have anything you would like to add, please put it forward.

If you have any suggestions about possible improvements to the site, please contact Alan Smith at:- bgcwebsite@alansmith.co.uk

Matt Cook

From the Tug Workshop

At this time of year it is important to keep the tugs clean.  Tugs should be cleaned after every days flying, but would everybody who flies them please pay special attention to cleaning around the wheels, brake calipers and tail wheel.
