INFORMATION SHEET

NOVEMBER 2005

From the Committee

We would like to thank the many members who attended the Committee meeting on 27th October for their helpful comments and advice. Members should have already received by post, notice of the EGM to be held on 26th November.  Please put this important date in your diaries.  We look for ward to seeing you there.

We are currently reviewing BGC draft accounts for the year ended 30th September 2005. There is a loss for the year, which is within the projections discussed at the September Committee meeting.  Trial lesson and course fee income has held up well. These results and projections for 2005/6 will be presented at the EGM.

Bob Davey has taken over from Dave Watt as Chief Tug Pilot. Many thanks for all your work Dave and for continuing to make time available for tug pilot training. Bob will also be assisted by Dave Byass, Matt Cook, Doug Hilton, Guy Sutherland and Dave Richardson.

Welcome to Jim White who joined the Committee on 27th October.  We still, however, urgently require additional help.  Some Committee members have been serving for a considerable period and will be stepping down in the near future.  It is vitally important, for the future of the Club that members are prepared to commit some of their time to the running of the Club.  We would particularly like to hear from members with marketing and promotion skills.

From the CFI

November has started well with a good flying day on the 1st and several flights in excess of 2 hrs though no long distances were achieved.

The expedition to Aboyne was yet again a great success with lots of flying and a taste of a new site and type of soaring  for many. A number of people did Wave cross countries for the first time. The culmination of this was Diamond height for Roland Wales with a wave climb to 23,000ft and still climbing (see the photo on the notice board) and Gold height for John Herman.

Many thanks to Dave Richardson for organising the expedition.  He has re-booked it for the same dates in 2006.

Congratulations to: Julian Saakwa–Mante for completing and passing his Assistant cat course (he is already instructing on a regular Basis).

Luke Cooper Berry who has been offered sponsorship and eventually a job with Excel Airlines.

Roland Wales (diamond height) and John Herman (gold height) at Aboyne.

Booker Regionals

The regionals will be held 10/06/06 – 18/06/06. This is a bit earlier than usual so as not to clash with other comps and the possible Aero Expo at Wycombe Air Park.

Dinner Dance.

The dinner dance organisation is well under way and the date is 4th February 2006.  Get ready to book your tickets from the office when they go on sale.

Aerobatics Course.

See the world from a different perspective! Graham Saw will once again be running his aerobatic course starting on the 12th November and continuing through to March 2006 on the 1st Saturday of every month.  This a great opportunity to learn a new and exciting way of flying so book early to avoid disappointment.

Instructing

John Herman, Lyndon Wood and Steve Williams will be doing a Basic Instructors course on the 26/27th of November. I have a number of volunteers/candidates for a Basic instructor’s course I anticipate early next year and two people to do Assistant cat courses in the New Year.
