BOOKER GLIDING CLUB WYCOMBE AIR PARK, MARLOW, BUCKS SL7 3DP INFORMATION SHEET February 2002 |
From the Committee
Please remember to put the date for the forthcoming AGM in your diary, the Agenda is enclosed with this information sheet.
Please note that if you have any special resolutions you wish to be considered for the AGM they should be with the committee (via the office) by Saturday 16th February 2002 at the latest. Any resolutions received after that date will not be considered.
If you know anybody who would like to stand for the committee, or if you would like to stand yourself, Election of Officer forms are in the office together with Proxy Forms for those who are unable to attend and still wish to register their vote.
The in-depth examination of our costs being carried out by a sub-group for the committee is yielding information which should enable us to align our costs and income streams more efficiently. The draft budget for the coming year is currently being produced, we should have finalised it following the next meeting.
There is good support for the expeditions to Jaca and to Shobdon, both still have some vacancies – enquire via the office, Jed or Roger Neal (Jaca) or Dave Richardson (Shobdon).
Attendees of the recent round of lectures will have noticed the smart new fixtures in the briefing room – thanks are due to John Hagley for his good work here. On the subject of lectures, the DI briefings will start this month – a list of dates will be posted on the noticeboard, initially for weekend days. All solo pilots are welcome, the intention is to provide useful information to all pilots, whether of club or privately-owned aircraft.
SHOBDON VISIT
6th April 2002 – 14th April 2002 inclusive
Following a good response on the club web site, we will be visiting Shobdon, home of the Herefordshire Gliding Club, this Spring.
If you want to take part in the trip during the period 6th April – 14th April, please ring the office and book in. We need a couple of fully rated instructors to supervise operations and a couple of tug pilots. When I know who is available, and when, I will produce a roster.
Shobdon is 8 miles west of Leominster at the foot of the Welsh mountains offering wave, hill and thermal soaring possibilities in most wind directions.
The airfield is huge and very easy to operate from, so the trip is open to everyone from Ab Initio down to Aces of the Base.
The only qualification is a tow bar on your car to enable us to get the kit to and from Shobdon.
Your place will be confirmed on receipt of a £30.00 deposit (to cover tug ferry costs), paid before 17:00 hrs on March 15th 2002. The list is in the office, book in person or by telephone only please, even if you registered your interest on the web site. Speak to me if you have any queries. I will send you a local accommodation list on payment of your deposit and further details nearer the time.
Alan Smith (new fully rated instructor) would like to take a two seater if we get enough students to make full use of it.
So – if you fancy some gliding in Wales this Spring in a two seater, single seater or your own glider, get in touch with the office before 17:00 on March 15th.
