BOOKER GLIDING CLUB

WYCOMBE AIR PARK, MARLOW, BUCKS  SL7 3DP

INFORMATION SHEET

JULY 2005

From the CFI

Another successful Regionals was held this month with 37 competitors entered and a further 12 entered in the Inter-Club League weekend, hosted by us the same weekend of the 25-26th June. A lot of flying was done despite the poor weather for the competitions. The first weekend of the Regionals / Inter-Club was rounded off nicely with a hog roast with over 50 people attending.

Booker won this round of the Inter-Club on home ground. Dave Watt won the Regionals, with G Dale in second and Denis Campbell in third.

The K13, CFA, now has it’s modified canopy. Dave Richardson has been working on the open cockpit conversion over the winter and it is now in service. The device is simple to fit and can be installed in the morning. It has already created a lot of interest from other clubs!

By the time you come to read this, the European Gliding Championships will be under way. We have three pilots competing on the GB team. Owain Walters and Jay Rebbeck are the entire club class team, with Jez Hood making up half the standard class team. You can get daily results and news from the interest at www.glidingteam.co.,uk

Glider Damage

A recent inspection of CFA found the compass wedged in the undercarriage bay. It could be clearly seen that it was torn off the top of the panel under considerable force, probably accidentally kicked when somebody was getting in the back. The fact that it happened is not a problem. You will never get in trouble for reporting damage. What is worrying is that somebody knows they did it AND DID NOT REPORT IT.

I don’t need to describe what could happen if it was to have gone anywhere else, other than the undercarriage. Anybody NOT reporting damage like this again may well be stopped using the equipment. PLEASE REPORT IT!!

Shobdon

A long weekend flying at Shobdon is being organised for 16th September 2005.

Anybody interested please contact Alan Smith for more information, or put your name down in the office with a £20 deposit.
