BOOKER GLIDING CLUB

WYCOMBE AIR PARK, MARLOW, BUCKS  SL7 3DP

INFORMATION SHEET

SEPTEMBER 2004

From the CFI

It is now official, August has been one of the wettest months since records began! Flying has been taking place during the gaps between the showers allowing another four first solos. Congratulations to Nigel Kent, Chris Collett, Jim Pengelly and Rob Munro.

We have another national title at the club. Andy Perkins was one of the 7 juniors from the club to take part in the junior Nationals, and won in style, only dropping out of the top 3 one day! Well done to him and all the other guys who competed.

Running along side the Juniors was the 15 meter nationals. Nearly 25 % of the field was made up with Booker pilots. Tricky weather was a pain, unfortunately denying Paul Brice third place by one point!!

Loggers

We are missing four ‘c’ type EW loggers from the club. Would anybody who has one please return it a.s.a.p, and would everybody who has used one please check that they still don’t have it!

Spain Ontur

We are still taking names from people who are interested in an expedition to Ontur in southern Spain. (see last newsletter or notice board). If you are interested, please let the office know.

Aboyne

Only 3 weeks away, now is the time to get your name down for this expedition. It will be running over three weeks, and if it was anything like last year, it was fantastic. We had 14 days flying! Anybody can go, ab initio – pundit. Please let the office know which week you are interested in, as we can make sure there are enough gliders. There are 8 beds left for week 1, week 2 accommodation is full but there are plenty of gliders to fly – everybody welcome.

From the Tug Workshop

Defect reporting

As you all know the defects are recorded on the back of the aircraft’s tug card not on the back of another aircraft’s card, this causes extra work to track down the aircraft that has the defect. Please put down the defect and its location only as accurately as possible. If you wish to pass some sort of comment, please make it constructive, if not, keep it to yourself or come and see me face to face with it. Also the closure of the defect is down to the Licensed Engineer clearing the defect and not some idea the pilot has.

Thank you, Dave S
